Many members of Gubio Town in Borno State are said to have fled to the state capital, Maiduguri after receiving a warning letter from Boko Haram.

Residents of Gubio Town in Borno State were thrown into panic after members of Boko Haram reportedly wrote them a letter threatening an invasion.

Many members of the community are said to have fled to the state capital, Maiduguri after receiving the letter.

One of the residents, Fannami Abuwar told Leadership:

“We have been threatened with letter by the Boko Haram insurgents, saying that they would attack us soon and we all have to flee for our lives having heard of what happened to communities like Damasak and Malumfatori where similar threat were made and carried out.”

The receipt of the letter was also confirmed by the spokesperson of a local vigilante group, Muhammed Gava

“We were all disturbed by the development because Gubio, though not too far away from Maiduguri, has been very peaceful and calm all this while,” Gava said.

Members of the sect had also previously written a warning letter to residents of the Chibok community, also in Borno, and they eventually made good on their threat to attack.
