Damaturu under terrorist attack

Fleeing residents have said that the attack began at about 6am on Monday, December 1, when they heard explosions and gunshots.

According to emerging reports, Boko Haram insurgents have launched an attack on Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, and the invasion is currently ongoing.

"It is as if they have surrounded us all here; there is sound of explosion and serious shooting.  We are all lying down on the floor with our families ; please pray for our safety,  that we survive this," a resident, Yaya Haruna told Premium Times.

Another resident, Mallam Abdulmalik said:

“We are in serious confusion now, we are just hearing gunshots and explosions on the southern part of the city and people are fleeing.”
