Twitter wars don't boost album sales

I'm pretty sure you are up to date with clash of egos on Twitter that went down on Monday, February 23, 2015. If you haven't, please check out the childish clash between the former buddies and label mates .

The tantrum between the pop acts have been well documented (including tweets from Skales' girlfriend). While this makes for great entertainment in our times, a generation fixated on junk reality, and gimmickry, the latest Tweet war in our side of the planet does little to sweep the dirt under the rug concerning both acts.

A debut album is arguably the most important album in an artiste's career. After a few false starts, Skales is finally set to drop his first body of work. With the ups and downs he has faced in his short but eventful career, the Baseline Music act should be fully focused on releasing a good and successful album.

Instead of channeling positive energy around him, Skales is lashing out at Wizkid, an artiste that is several steps ahead of him. Skales' concern right now should be delivering a good and successful album, and not generating drama for blogs. Even if he has any issue with Wizkid, what's stopping him from entering the studio and recording a song about it?

Great artistes channel their pain and frustration and turn it into great tracks. There's no big picture in you calling out someone on Twitter, when you can record a song about it, and make money from it. What Skales has been able to do with this Twitter rant is make more money for Linda Ikeji, Pulse and co. He is putting more energy in making blog headlines, rather than be known as an act that is going to drop a great album.

Funny enough when Skales was on the verge of leaving EME he dropped a song called 'Very Soon' where he spoke on being sidelined. It's a lovely song. Why can't he do that now?

And truthfully speaking, Skales scored a big hit with 'Shake Bodi', but subsequent releases have fallen under. Skales should be more concerned by that, and should forget if Wizkid supports him or not.

And by the way this is the second act from Baseline Music who has snapped at Wizkid publicly. Come on guys, think of a new strategy.

Continuing with the theme of honesty, Wizkid hasn't dropped dope materials as of late. His second album was received with mixed reviews. The views on his new videos 'Sound It', and 'Wonder' are alarmingly low for an act with his continental clout, and international exposure.

He too is not focused, for a long while now. He is quick to respond to people who call him out, but slow in dropping great songs. Wizkid should be concerned in getting his mojo back rather than shooting bullets from the keypad of his iPhone 6. Hopefully his collaboration with Chris Brown will be the fuss that it is being hyped up to be.

Twitter drama at best will boost your follower count at most. It won't help you create a great song or produce a classic album. Wizkid and Skales are artistes first, and celebrities second. They should focus on their craft. This year will be highly important for two of them.

They should be fully focused on churning out quality materials instead of getting retweets. If they are annoyed or frustrated, they should put it in a song. Like Big Sean said 'drama makes for great content'. Sadly they are wasting great content in the fickle world of 140 characters.
