Twin Singers Battled Over Music, Not Money And Family

A couple of months ago, media reports had revealed that the Peter and Paul Okoye were involved in a bitter quarrel which degenerated into physical combat. The twins have revealed that their arguments was caused by change in music, not family.

Psquare have revealed that their earlier fight which threatened to split their partnership was due to the passion they had for the fans and for music.

A couple of months ago, media reports had revealed that the Peter and Paul Okoye were involved in a bitter quarrel which degenerated into physical combat. The quarrel was widely reported and analysed on social media, with many taking sides and blaming either brother and their wives.

But the brothers have revealed to Olisa Adibua, on talk show; The Truth, that their arguments and fight was due to a proposed shift in musical structure and operations between them.

“It wasn't about money, it wasn't about women, it's just a normal thing. The way you argue or quarrel with your siblings, it's normal.” Peter Okoye revealed.

He continued, “The only sad thing about this is that it got out. When it was happening, we were still performing in shows. So people took our private lives, to our business, which I don't blame them. I don't blame these fans because we owe them a lot of apology.

“But for the fact that they took it too far, I and Paul had a mere argument, and it was about music.”

Paul Okoye added: “When it comes to music, even if I want to bring something new, the new stuff I wat to bring, I still want to make it 'us'. But he wanted to bring something different. For me, you cannot change how we do things. If you wanna bring something different, bring it gradually.

But you can't just switch fast immediately. It's gonna have an effect. It's gonna hit us. So it has to do with the music, the song to select on the album, there are some songs he (Peter Okoye) preferred, and others I preferred.”

This thing has happened before, during the days of 'Do Me'.

Peter concurred, revealing certain specifics about their operations. He revealed that he was against the publishing of the 'Do Me' hit single, but Paul had his way, and it worked.

“I never liked 'Do Me', I never liked 'Do Me'. How we ended up choosing that song was we said, “Peter choose your best five, Paul choose your best five. Paul's best five, 'Do Me' was inside it. I never selected it.

“Although Paul won, because in that album, 'No One Like You', 'Ifunanya', and most of his selections went far. It happens in every album. The truth is, the whole fight and quarrel is for the fans. Because we are trying to bring out the best. If we had just said, 'make we release everything', at the end of the day, we'll start looking for who to blame.”

The twin singers are of the belief that the dark episode was deserved, an unavoidable price for their fame.

Paul said, “When people started hearing that, they started directing it to someone. If it is not Jude, it is their wife. I looked at it and said this is a price we're paying. 'Who send us go dey popular'.”
