Ghana's Efya Reveals Her Admiration For Mavin Boss

In an interview with Pulse.ng, Ghanaian singer Efya, reveals her admiration for Don Jazzy, and how much she'll love to make good music with him.

Ghanaian songbird, Efya, has expressed her long-held desire to work with Nigerian producer, Don Jazzy.

The multi-award winning singer, best known for her strength in vocals and serenading soul music, has always been affiliated with Nigerian music, featuring in numerous productions, and collaborations. But in all of these, Efya still holds dear her enduring wish to work with the CEO of Mavin Records.

She told Pulse.ng: It's definitely Don Jazzy. Because he's Don Jazzy again. I've known him for a couple of years and he's one of my mentors, so he knows my music, knows what kind of music he'll make for me that will appeal to the Nigerian market,

So I'm working on that. It's gonna happen soon. It's not like a dream, it's a reality now. I chased him for five years though (laughs), but it's cool.

Efya also believes that the perceived rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana in the entertainment space isn't needed, sharing her opinion that the two countries make good music together.

“We're kinda like the 2 heads, even though you guys (Nigerians) have crazy numbers, but we're battling because of the talent. You all can sing, we can sing...better sometimes. I think competition is good, it's great. Keeps everybody on their feet.

But I like it. Even though there some kind of this rivalry, we always come together and make music together. And when we do that, we realize that we don't even need the rivalry, because we ame amazing music together.

“I don't know, however it happens, we're still out here, we do our best.

Nigerian music has grown over the years, expanding to the farthest corners of the globe. Efya believes also that we have got it right here.

“I've heard some really good music, Charlie you guys really go ham. There are a couple of artistes that I admire. I can't really pick one. I'm even listening to like Poe, and some other underground rappers. I can say definitely that I like the sound, even though sometimes they sound the same, but they find a way to make it sound different.

“Shout out to all the good producers out there, you guys are making some amazing music, we're coming.” She added.
