In the interview which spans 35 minutes, M.I speaks about his new album Chairman. The award winning lyricist says the concept of his next album is about him narrating his success story from his own perspective. He also said that this album which contains 16 tracks is going to be the best of his three solo albums.
M.I further stated that he works very hard to be regarded as the best rapper in Nigeria, and cited fellow rapper Naeto C as his closest contemporary in the rap game.
When asked about the exit of Jesse Jagz from Chocolate City, M.I revealed that Jesse Jagz wanted artistic freedom while admitting that the label was slow in catching up with his new sound. He expressed the desire to one day have Jesse Jagz on his own imprint Loopy Records.
Shortly after Jesse Jagz's exit from the imprint, BrymO also left. M.I describes the singer's exit as the most painful of all, seeing that he discovered him, and convinced a lot of people that he was Choc Boy material.
Back to his album, M.I revealed that this LP will feature not only "new inspiration" but new producers and a new family.
M.I's Chairman drops on October 31st.
