Pop/R&B star Iyanya has revealed that when he recorded his breakthrough song 'Kukere' in 2011 he did not want to be associated with the song.

Iyanya revealed this when interviewed by fellow singer Praiz on a new TV show 'On'. The Triple MG fan was scared of the backlash he thought he was going to receive from his R&B fans.

"You know it was not easy because first I didn't mention my name on that song. I told you i did not want to do that because I did not want people to know it was my song" Iyanya told Praiz who coincidentally did backup vocals on the hit track. "It was not really easy but I thank God for the result" he further said

'Kukere' which is still the biggest hit of Iyanya's career, and was produced by D-Tunes, led to Iyanya being a mainstay in Nigeria's mainstream pop circuit.
