Director celebrates superhero 75th anniversary with new photo

In celebration of Wonder Woman's 75th anniversary, Zack Synder shared a new image of Gal Gadot as superhero in "Justice League."

On Friday, October 21, 2016, Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter commemorated the character’s 75th anniversary at the United Nations where Wonder Woman was named an honorary ambassador for the empowerment of women and girls.

Carter was the star of the TV series "Wonder Woman" from 1975 to 1979, while Gadot made her theatrical debut as the superhero in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Gadot will reprise her role in "Justice League," which debuts in theaters on November 17, 2017. The movie stars the her alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

In addition to her appearance in "Justice League," Gal Gadot will reprise the role in a  "Wonder Woman" standalone movie which is set for a June 2, 2017 release.

The anticipated "Wonder Woman" movie is scripted by writer of "The Flash" TV series Geoff Johns, and "The Catch" writer Allan Heinberg.

Synopsis:

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior.

Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the movie will also star  "House of Cards"  star Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya and Saïd Taghmaoui.

The 2015 “Batman vs Superman,” which starred Gadot as Wonder Woman alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, grossed $870 million.
