A classic show with a potent ensemble cast
"Checkmate" offered lots of memorable personalities to root for, and that is just one of the many reasons why the TV series is implanted in the hearts of many.

For years, the late Amake Igwe TV show offered a delicious brew of stroylines interpreted by a diverse and dynamic cast.
What do you remember about the Soap Opera which amassed a loyal cult following, many of whom are still wishing for a remake.
The series starred an array of grounded Nollywood actors including Ego Boyo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Nobert Young, Mildred Iweka, Kunle Bamtefa, Bimbo Odulaja and the late Francis Agu.
"Checkmate" revolved around the Fujis, Haastrups, Kadiris, Ola-Daniels and Edems, and according to the late Amaka Igwe, the show was conceived by watching 'Mirror in the Sun.'
"Checkmate" birthed the evergreen TV show "Fuji House of Commotion," which featured some characters such as Bamtefa as Chief Fuji.
While we are currently in an era of streaming TV, it is frustrating to access TV shows from past decades - fans of retro TV are the biggest losers in this era.
