"The Young Pope" which stars Jude Law as Lenny Belardo, an extremely conservative American pontiff, is getting a follow-up.
Titled "The New Pope," none of the cast has been announced yet, as casting for the show, including the title character, will commence soon.
According to Variety, the new series which is being written by Paolo Sorrentino and Umberto Contarello, will be “set in the world of the modern papacy.”
The first season followed the story of the youngest and first American Pope in history, starring Jude Law as the Pope alongside Diane Keaton as Sister Mary.
The fate of Jude Law as The Young Pope was uncertain at the end of the show, and it's still not clear if he would appear in the follow-up show.
"The New Pope" will go into production late next year in Italy.
