1. "Fifty Shades of Grey"

One of the highest grossing movies of 2015, According to the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), the sexually explicit movie was banned for 'public interest.’

2. "Exodus: Gods and Kings"

The Hollywood big-budget epic film which is based on the Biblical book of Exodus was banned from Egypt for "historical inaccuracies".

According to the culture minister of Egypt, Gaber Asfour, the epic movie gives a Zionist view of history.

"Exodus: Gods and Kings" also received criticism for casting white stars Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton, and also for the director's decision to have an 11-year-old boy be the voice of God.

3. "The Man Who Mends Women"

Based on the story of a Congolese surgeon Denis Mukwege, who treated victims of sexual violence by armed forces in eastern part of DRC., the by The Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to Lambert Mende, DRC’s media minister, the movie was banned to avoid sullying the image of the country's army.

4. "Half of a Yellow Sun"

Scheduled to hit the Nigeria cinemas on April 24, 2014, the movie was banned by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) in Nigeria.

The movie which focuses on one of the most searing episodes in the nation’s history, its civil war, and unites some of Nigeria’s major cultural figures, was banned because it deals with the Biafran War.

According to the board, the movie might incite people to violence. The board approved the high budget movie in July 2014.

5. "Spectre"

Daniel Craig’s kissing  scenes with Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci were termed “too excessive," and banned in India by its cinema censor board.

6. "Wolf of Wall Street"

The multiple award winning movie was banned by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) due to its “extreme scenes of nudity, sex, alcohol, drug taking and profanity.”

Directed by Martin Scorsese and based on a true story, "Wolf of Wall Street" follows the rise and fall of a wealthy stockbroker played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

7. "India's Daughter"

Based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, The documentary chronicles the 2012 gang rape of a 23-year-old on a moving bus in India's capital, and the protests started by Indian students after the rape.

The documentary was , because, excerpts of the movie "appear to encourage and incite violence against women."

According to Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep, who introduced the documentary at its U.S. theatrical release, the documentary and director deserve an Oscars.

8. "Magic Mike"

The sequel to the hugely successful Channing Tatum movie was banned by the Indian censors board. According to the board, male stripping is against the Indian culture.
