5 contestants under probation after week 1

It was a musical experience as all contestants put in their best to avoid probation just after one week

 

After a host of glittering performances by MTN Project Fame contestants, at the Ultima Studios, the panel of judges comprising Ade Bantu, Bibie Brew and Tee Y- Mix choosing who to put on probabtion.

"It is not a proven fact that you all can sing; so now you have to do more than singing," Vivace Records boss Ty Mix said.

Ty Mix was not telling a lie.

The 14 contestants of the Project Fame 8.0 thrilled the audience with near perfect rendition of some of the world most popular tunes.

Before Saturday, show, the contestants were told on Friday, August 7 that non of them will be up for probabtion.

With the pressure of probation off their shoulders, they all delivered thrilling performances,showing the West Africa where they were chosen to enter the academy from the thousands that auditioned.

On Saturday however, it was more serious as the contestants who impressed judges the least will be put up for probation.

Oluchi one of the new Academy entrants via wildcard opened the floor with a beautiful rendition of 'We are here' by Alicia Keys.

Ruby (the second new Academy entrant) sang a cover of Dare Art Alade's 'Not the girl'.

Anderson wowed with the rendition of 'Thinking Out Loud' by Ed Sheeran, Joy shone through her performance of 'Diamonds' by Rihanna while Kumi performed 'Dark horse' by Katy Perry.

Pearl continued with a beautiful rendition of 'Hurt' by ChristinaAguilera, Tejiri performed 'Love Me Like You Do' by EllieGoulding, Richie performed OMI's 'Cheerleader', while Jeff impressed the audience with his performance of 'Earned It' by The weekend.

It was Jennifer's turn with 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' by Taylor Swift, Biko did 'Not the only one' by Sam Smith while Arewa displayed top-notch crooning and theatrics with the song- 'Four Five Seconds' by Rihanna.

The Musical experience continued as Deborah performed 'At Last' by Etta James, Chike performed Bruno Mars' 'Just the way you are' while Deinde put up a mini show with his performance of Sean Kingston's 'Beautiful girls'.

Ada also impressed with 'All about that bass,no treble'  by  Meghan Trainor.

At the end of the performances, five contestants-Deborah, Jennifer, Richie, Tejiri and Kumi-were all chosen by the judges to go on probabtion.

Fans of the contestants who are probation will have to vote for them to keep them safe with their numbers.

Deborah (6), Jennifer (12), Richie (17), Tejiri (18) and Kumi (14).

To Vote, send your favourite contestant's number to 306 for residents in Nigeria and 1745 for those in Ghana.

The winner of the competition will walk away with a grand prize of N5m, a brand new SUV and a recording deal worth millions of Naira.

The 1st runner up will get a saloon car and N3m. The 2nd runner up will be awarded a brand new saloon car along with N1m while the 3rd runner up will receive a cash prize of N1m.
