Norbert Young, Waje, Udoka Oyeka star in film on Boko Haram

Udoka Oyeka has released his latest short film on the Boko Haram crisis in Northern Nigeria. Watch trailer.

 

The film which stars Udoka Oyeka playing the lead role alongside Norbert Young, Sani Muazu, Waje, amongst others, seeks to create awareness while depicting the humanitarian and terrorism crisis that residents face in Northern Nigeria due to the Boko Haram insurgency.

Produced by  Bolanle Austen-Peters, "No Good Turn" tells the story of the immediate aftermath of a Boko Haram terrorist attack and is set in an overcrowded Emergency Room of the town’s deteriorating hospital. The doctor, Dr. Gbenga, on duty has his hands full especially when one of the suspected terrorists is brought into the hospital.  Dr. Gbenga must fight to keep everyone’s values in check, including his own.

The film was selected and screened at the 2016 European Independent Film Festival, 2016 Cannes Film Festival in the Short Corner, the Durban International Film Festival and more.

Udoka Oyeka, who directed the award-winning movie "Living Funeral," directs and leads a cast for the first time in "No Good Turn."

In a 2016 interview with Pulse Nigeria, Oyeka said "I think this is one film that everybody should watch out for. Nollywood hasn't done anything yet on Boko Haram, so I thought we needed to use our craft to talk about the issue."

Onyeka Udoka is a Nigerian filmmaker who directed the movieat the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards including Best Director, Best Movie Drama, Best Movie 2014, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress amongst others.
