Popular American internet streaming media service provider, Netflix, is set to launch across Africa today, January 6, 2015. It will be launching in Kenya and South Africa and Nigeria.

Netflix Inc's video-streaming services went live in more than 130 countries on Wednesday, covering almost the entire globe except China, in a huge global push by Chief Executive Reed Hastings to counter slowing growth at home.
India, Nigeria, Russia and Saudi Arabia were among the major countries where the service was launched, Hastings said at a Consumer Electronics Show keynote in Las Vegas.
While the platform may not record as much success in Africa as it has in other parts of the world due to the high cost of internet data, its chances of assembling a huge following is high as Africans are already fans of its series and programmes.

As part of its mission to extend its services to the world, the internet streaming platform recently expanded into the Asian market with a launch in Japan and Italy in September and October, respectively.
