The stars come out to shine at #OnlyTheBest dinner

Nigerian stars including Rita Dominic, Desmond Elliot, Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nuoah attended the glamorous event in the volcanic island of Mauritius.

MultiChoice Africa officially kicked off it’s second #OnlyTheBest Content Showcase extravaganza at the Outrigger Resort in Mauritius yesterday, 2 September, 2015.

The opening event tagged 'Night of a Thousand Stars' was attended by media from across Africa as well as some of Nigeria’s A-list stars including Rita Dominic, Desmond Elliot, Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nuoah.

In the welcome address, MultiChoice Africa's CEO Tim Jacobs guaranteed the entertainment service provider would do all it could to provide outstanding accessible content to subscribers.

“We believe television is an extremely powerful tool that can educate, entertain and inform. The evolution of this medium has become fast and furious and as a business we are constantly evolving to stay ahead", Jacobs said.

“MultiChoice’s business is built around three key pillars: people; content - in the form of great entertainment, news and sport - and the latest cutting-edge technology. Our mission is to ensure that our subscribers do not miss out on any of the stories, events or moments that are shaping our future”, he explained.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, M-Net Regional Director West Africa, highlighted the change M-Net had brought to television culture in Africa.

“Our first broadcast in 1986 led to other firsts like the launch of SuperSport and the Mzansi Magic, Zambezi Magic, Jango Magic and Africa Magic channels; and with the creation of exciting, genre-defining and iconic content like Carte Blanche and Tinsel, M-Net continues to shape cultures, build bridges and empower talent across Africa even as we remain synonymous with all things entertainment on the continent”, Mba-Uzoukwu said.

The cinema themed event brought to life a combination of Hollywood, Nollywood and Bollywood enchantment. The celebration hosted by IK Osakioduwa and Eku Edewor saw performances from Flavour, Stonebwoy and The Mavins.

The night was given an interesting twist as IK hosted his TV show High Lites with IK on stage with Banky W as his guest.
