Nollywood receives N2bn investment from president

Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, gets another 2 billion Naira from the Federal Government.

President Goodluck Jonathan has set out to help improve the technical and professional capacity in the value chain of the Nigerian movie industry.

According to the Federal Government on Sunday, January 18 2015, the N2 billion fund set up for the industry is aimed at improving the distribution of audio-visual content, reducing piracy and protecting intellectual property in the entertainment industry.

The scheme known as ‘Project ACT Nollywood', is aimed at boosting film production and distribution within and outside Nigeria.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser, Media to CME, Mr. Paul C Nwabuikwu in Abuja; the fund was targeted at businesses in the film distribution space.
