Another light has been blown away in Hollywood, as Oscar Award winning actor, George Kennedy passes on at  the age of 91 Sunday morning in Boise, Idaho.

This was revealed by his grandson Cory Schenkel, on his Facebook page.

"I have created so many great memories and I will enjoy them for life. While I am extremely sad that they are both gone (my grandma in September 14 and my grandpa this morning) I am grateful for the life, memories, and knowledge they shared with me,”

“They both lived amazing lives and I know they are resting in peace.”

Kennedy began as a radio performer but later put a hold on his acting career in order to serve in World War II.

He later returned to acting after serving 16 years in the army,  earning an Oscar Award for best supporting actor for his role in the 1967 flick 'Cool Hand Luke'.

He last appeared in Mark Wahlberg’s 2014 film 'The Gambler'.
