In a recent interview with EW, the showrunners confirmed that the seventh season is the penultimate season of show which is based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin.

Titled "The Winds of Winter," the "GOT" season six finale ended with Daenerys finally coming back to Westeros; Jon Snow as king of the North and Cersei sitting on the Iron Throne.

On July 14, the show received 23 Primetime Emmy nominations this 2016. The nominations include 'Outstanding Drama Series,' 'Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series,' 'Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series,' among others.

The seventh season which was originally scheduled to return in April 2017, will premiere in the summer of 2017, and run for seven episodes.

The seven episodes are short its normal 10 episodes - all six seasons of the show so far have run for 10 episodes each.
