According to the report, they will each earn upward of $500,000 per episode for the seventh season, which has been officially renewed by network.

The cast will also receive the sizable pay bump for the eighth season, which is yet to be renewed, but widely rumoured and expected to be the final season of the hit fantasy drama series.

Actors due for the pay raise are leads Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister).

The salary increase will make the actors some of the highest paid stars on cable TV. However, the pay bump is not an assurance that their characters survive until the eighth season of show.

There have been reports that the upcoming seasons would be shorter than standard 10 episodes with seven episodes for season seven, and six episodes for season eight.

Season six finale episode of show will air on Sunday, June 26, 2016.
