Late singer's family says documentary is 'misleading'

"Amy would be furious. This is not what she would have wanted,"- Mitch Winehouse expresses his displeasure at upcoming documentary.

The family of late singer Amy Winehouse has disassociated themselves from the upcoming documentary movie of late singer's life, titled 'Amy', calling it 'unbalanced' and 'misleading.'

In a statement issued to People, the family of the late singer said they would love to disassociate themselves from the Asif Kapadia directed movie.

“It is both misleading and contains some basic untruths,” statement reads.

In an interview with The Sun, Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, said he felt sick watching the film for the first time.

"I felt sick when I watched it for the first time. Amy would be furious. This is not what she would have wanted."

According to Mitch, the movie ignores the role played by Amy's ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

He also said that the movie portrays him as an absent father who was not supportive of her health condition.

Amy Winehouse died in 2011 from alcohol poisoning at the age of 27.

The movie 'Amy' s slated to debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
