11 actors who got their start on "Tinsel"

"Tinsel" is famous for giving a break to numerous of then-unknown actors, who have since moved from the small town to become top Nollywood actors.

It is almost like a rite of passage; every actor has to got through "Tinsel," playing a major role or making a cameo appearance.

While  already established stars such as Ireti Doyle, Richard Mofe Damijo, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Bimbo Manuel, Anne Njemanze and Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimiover have played major roles on show, there are still numerous actors who made their debut on show, gained recognition through the show, and have gone ahead to take up different challenging roles.

Pulse Movies have put together11 stars who got the most career lift from their roles in the M-Net series, "Tinsel."

1. Matilda Obaseki as Angela Dede

On different occasions, different actresses have had to stand for Obasekki as the crazy but lovable Dede, however, her interpretation of the character remains the most remarkable.

Sometimes, it's difficult to see her as anyone but Angela Dede. Before "Tinsel," she featured in the TV series, "Us."

Since "Tinsel," Obasekki has featured in "A Place in the Stars," "Hurt Within."

2. Linda Ejiofor as Bimpe

Before she became "Ejura" to many, she was the 'air-head' Bimpe to most people.

Since her debut on "Tinsel," Ejiofor has featured in "The Meeting," "Suru L'ere," "The Secret Room", "Ojukokoro," "Diary of a Lagos Girl," among others.

3. Gideon Okeke as Phillip Ade-Williams

Since Gideon Okeke became a household name as the bold and arrogant Phillip Ade-Williams, he has featured in Steve Gukas' "93 Days," "A Place in the Stars," "When Love Happens," "Gidi Blues" among others.

4. Gbenro Ajibadeas Soji Bankole

The name Soji isn't only easy to remember, it is also one of the major characters on the show. Once, Tayo Faniran replaced Ajibade as Soji on the show, but, Ajibade as Soji isn't one that can be replaced.

Despite his roles in movies like "Gbomo Gbomo Express" and "Wages," Ajibade is still Soji to most Nigerians.

5. Victor Olaotan as Fred Ade-Williams

Before he became Fred Ade-Williamsto viewers, he had featured in several stage plays. But, his interpretation of the character Ade-Williams made him a household name.

He has since featured in "3 Wise Men," "Remember Me" and "Lotanna."

6. Funmi Holder as Amaka Okoh

Holder has featured in other Nigerian productions including "After the Promise," but it's her role as Amaka Okoh that she is widely remembered for.

7. Damilola Adegbite as Telema Duke

Adegbite made her acting debut on "Tinsel," and has since featured in "Flower Girl," "Isoken," "Before 30" among others.

Despite her role in different TV series, movies and stage productions, her character on the show is one that is imprinted in the hearts of most Nigerians.

8. Ifeanyi Dike Jr. as Titan

He started his career as an actor in the M-Net soap opera. He has since appeared on "Desperate Housewives Africa," " Gidi Up", "Shuga" and "Green White Green."

9. Tomi Odunsi as Salewa

Odunsi as Salewa is one that made an impression and it would take a challenging and out of this world character for her to earn another sobriquet.

10. Abiola Segun-Williams as Titi

Titi K is a character on "Tinsel" that is entertaining and well interpreted by Abiola Segun-Williams.

Despite her role in movies such as "In the Cupboard," "Damages" and "I'll Take my Chances," Segun-Williams is still the Tinsel star Titi K to TV lovers.

11. Chris Attoh as Kwame

Before "Flower Girl," "Lotanna," "Our Best Friend's Wedding" and "Sinking Sands," Attoh entertained Africans as the charmingly manipulative Kwame Mensah.
