“I was depressed, addicted to pills and alcohol,” he said toThe Daily Mail. “Eating 10 double cheeseburgers or two large pizzas at a time.”

In fact, the Syracuse, New York resident peaked at a weight of 675 pounds, and he was not surprisingly told by a doctor that he’d die in less than two years if he didn’t make some serious changes.

A friend urged him to reach out to the owner of a local health club, at which point he latched on with a personal trainer and started hitting the gym with some serious consistency. While you’re well-aware that many people go there for about a week or two before tossing in the towel, Brower grinded for four years and, over that time, ended up knocking off 458 pounds from his previously-overloaded frame.

Add him to the list of massive weight loss transformations.

He did so by dropping drugs and alcohol, going on a low-carb diet, and working out for three hours daily. When you’re nearly 700 pounds, you have to start with baby steps, and Brower did the grown man equivalent by beginning with an exercise where he’d raise his arms and sit in a chair at the same time. In his first 100 days, he lost 100 pounds.

Brower documented that massive weight loss on Facebook, and after almost two years caught the eye of a woman, Andrea Massella, who he’s now set to marry on Saturday.

Like Brower, Andrea was also putting in the overtime to shed major pounds—120, in fact—and she forged a bond with him (duh, they’re about to get married) over their shared experience. “I was just really inspired by him and I thought he was super cute,” she admits. “We started talking at the gym and I hate to sound cliché, but it was love at first sight.”

Andrea says that they plan to support one another’s healthy lifestyle through marriage, which makes perfect sense given the way they met. They also intend to reach out in an effort to inspire others. As Brower explains: “People come to me all the time, asking for weight-loss advice, I just tell them there's hope out there. If you want it bad enough and put your mind to it, anybody can do it.”

It’s definitely a Hollywood story, or at least it could be if Jonah Hill’s got a gap in his schedule.
