Guy steals 100 phones at Coachella, gets caught by "Find My Phone" app

As with most public gatherings, there are people looking to take advantage of the festivities for their personal gain.

Coachella, the music festival responsible for the majority of the photos on your Instagram feed lately, is apparently not just full of free spirits and overpriced ripped clothing. (Here's how to survive a music festival, in case you're planning on going to any this summer.)

As with most public gatherings, there are people looking to take advantage of the festivities for their personal gain. This was the case with Reinaldo De Jesus Henao, a guy who was caught at the event with over 100 stolen phones in his backpack.

According to an article published on Mashable, the man was caught after victims of his theft activated their "Find My Phone" app and tracked the location of their phone down to a guy walking around the festival with a backpack full of them.

What we have a hard time understanding is how so many people at Coachella actually became separated from their phones in the first place. Coachella is arguably one of the most social media-filled events of the year, and one would venture to guess that there is a very scarce amount of phones not in the hands of their owners.

The article stated that Henao was taken to a local correctional facility and placed on a $10,000 bond, which he paid. Who knows if he'll attempt the crime a second time, but heads up, people—make sure your phone tracking app is fully functional.
