FG summons South African High Commissioner

South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Louis-Mnguni was summoned by Nigeria's foreign affairs ministry on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

The Federal Government has summoned the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Louis-Mnguni over the recent xenophobic attacks in SA.

Louis-Mnguni was summoned by Nigeria's foreign affairs ministry on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

According to a statement from the Public Communications Division of the Ministry, the High Commissioner met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Musiliu Obanikoro in Abuja.

Obanikoro is said to have urged the South African government to “take concrete steps to quell the unrest and bring the culprits involved to book, to serve as a deterrent to others and prevent reoccurrence.”

The High Commissioner in return assured Obanikoro that the South African government was doing everything possible to address the attacks and prosecute those behind them.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate has urged the FG to sue King Goodwill Zwelithini who is said to have made the speech which sparked off the attacks.
