Rivers Governor represents Nigeria’s new generation leaders – Maku

Wike said that he insisted on timelines for the completion of projects because of the need to avoid abandoned projects.

A statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, by Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to Wike on Electronic Media, said Maku made the remark at the inspection of some projects in the state on Saturday.

The statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said that the projects were located in Port Harcourt City, Obio/Akpor and  Ikwerre Local Government Areas, respectively.

Maku, who is ‪National Secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), said that the projects were a proof that the people stood to benefit whenever they elected well-equipped leaders.

‪”This is what we want; a generation of leaders who are committed to making more progress in the direction of prosperity and development.

‪”This is what you get when you have the right people in place, who have the energy, intellectual wherewithal and commitment to drive development,” he said.

According to him, I am not surprised that Gov. Wike is performing. At the Federal Executive Council, I knew him to be very serious with a noble heart.

“As gvernor of Rivers State, we have observed with happiness the kind of seriousness he has brought to governance.”

‪In his comment, Wike said that he insisted on timelines for the completion of projects because of the need to avoid abandoned projects.

He said: “The happiness of the people motivates me to work harder. Their response each time we go out for project inspection is a sign that they are happy with what we are doing.

”I will continue to work, promote and defend the interest of our state.  I will continue to fulfil all promises I made to the people.”

Some of the projects inspected were Rukpokwu Market road, Rumuokparali road and Tam David-West Boulevard.

Others were Mother and Child Hospital in Air Force base, Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, Second Nkpogu//LNG Road and Bridge  and Ogbunabali/ Land Reclamation project.
