Gov urges prayers for peaceful co-existence as Muslims celebrate Sallah

Gov Ugwuanyi has urged Muslims to pray for peace, unity and economic recovery as Muslims in Nigeria celebrate Sallah.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu state  governor

Ugwuanyi made this call in an Eid el-Kabir message made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Sunday.

“Our Muslim brothers and sisters should offer prayers for the peace and unity as well as economic progress of the nation,’’ he said.

Ugwuanyi noted that it was only through prayers and absolute faith in God that Nigeria can overcome her current socio-cultural and economic challenges.

The governor harped on the need for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians irrespective of their religious and ethnic differences.

“The God, who brought us together as one entity, will certainly take the nation to the dreams of our founding fathers,’’ he said.

Ugwuanyi also urged Nigerians to love and appreciate one another and avoid any ungodly act that could lead to disunity.

He, however, felicitated with Muslims while he prayed for President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders for God’s guidance and wisdom to enable them take decisions that would lead to the economic progress of the country.
