Senate President’s CCT trial resumes June 7

Speaking to newsmen, the CCT Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Al-hassan, confirmed the decision.

This following a request made by prosecution counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), to the CCT chairman, Danladi Umar, requesting that the trial be held from June 7 – June 9, 2016.

This is contrary to media reports that said Saraki’s trial had been adjourned indefinitely, because the tribunal had to hear other cases.

The CCT spokesman added that the media reports that the Senate President’s case was adjourned indefinitely, were false.

Al-hassan also said “This got to show that the initial impression that the tribunal had adjourned indefinitely was false, as publicised yesterday (Wednesday) by some media organisations."

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the hearing of Saraki’s appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal, Abuja on Thursday, June 2, 2016 against the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) was stalled due to the poor health of his counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).
