Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed an application filed by Senate President, Bukola Saraki to stop his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Saraki’s petition was dismissed today, November 6, 2015, by presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Baba.

Justice Buba, in his ruling, held that the court has no jurisdiction to hear the Senate President’s case.

Saraki is being tried on charges of asset declaration fraud brought against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

The CCT had, on November 5, adjourned Saraki's trial to November 19,  for continued hearing after his lawyers walked out during the proceedings.

The Senate President had earlier urged the Court of Appeal to invalidate the CCT's trial against him but the court ruled that the case must continue.

Saraki has also approached the Supreme Court to have the trial stopped.
