Despite reports that the Borno state Government received cash donations of N345m for the upkeep of the IDPs, it is heart-rending that the children in the camp still look poorly fed.
There were reports of some government officials who were caught diverting and re-bagging food stuff meant for the up-keep of the people in the camp.
This is actually supporting reports by Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) that over 1,200 children have died.
According to Nigerian News, it had to take the intervention of the Governor Kashim Shettima for 61 people to be taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Umaru Shehu Ultramodern Hospital, for treatment during his visit to the IDP camp.
The Governor’s wife was seen giving the mothers of the malnourished kids some bags, which is commendable, but the situation of the kids requires more attention, some observers said.
According to reports, children make up a large percentage of those living in these IDP camps, and they are not getting the daily required nutrition that will help them grow.
The Nigerian government promised to improve the living conditions of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bama, Borno State., but this exclusive video shows that the lives of the people in the camps has not improved at all.
