This decision was sequel to a motion moved by Senate Majority leader, Ahmed Lawan.

Lawan noted that some ministers and directors failed to appear before the committees to defend their budget during the three-week break, thereby delaying work on the bill.

Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio seconded the motion for adjournment.

Senate President, Saraki said "no minister or group can hold the country hostage by delaying the passage of the budget."
