Ex President commends Ogun Governor over Anisulowo’s rescue

Anisulowo and her security aide were kidnapped on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, along the Sawonjo-Iganokoto road in Yewa-South Council Area in Ogun state.

According to The Daily Sun, Obasanjo in his letter dated May, 9, 2016, said it “was enormously heartening to see the fruition of your uplifting eagerness and action in getting the release of Senator Iyabo Anisulowo from the den of her kidnappers without her being harmed and without ransom being paid.”

OBJ reportedly praised the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Bala Hassan; and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, saying “The service provided by them was exemplary such that all of us could now feel more reassured in the State. Indeed, the facilities and mobilisation provided by you and the Federal Government for the rescue exercise must have also complemented their efforts in securing Senator Anisulowo’s release.”

Obasanjo also said “My dear Governor, once again, I salute you for your leadership in this respect. By so doing, you have shown the path for governments at different levels to follow with the hope that such diligence and commitment to discourage these criminal elements will be emulated by all.”

Anisulowo, who spoke to newsmen after her release, said her experience in the hands of the kidnappers was dehumanising and terrible.
