IPOB leader disrupts court proceedings, says Buhari cannot intimidate him

Kanu rejected the idea of a secret trial, adding that anything short of an open trial will not be accepted.

Nnamdi Kanu

According to Premium Times, Kanu started shouting in the court after the trial judge agreed that witnesses will be protected during the period of the trial.

The IPOB leader said “The president can intimidate the judges, but he cannot do that to me. Tell him he has lied.”

He said he will not subject himself to a secret trial, adding that anything short of an open trial will not be accepted.

Kanu also said “I will address this court! You cannot be killing my people and tell me that you will make me have a secret trial. That won’t happen! The president can intimidate the judges, but he cannot do that to me. Tell him he has lied.”

In a bid to calm the IPOB leader down, Chux Muoma, his lawyer, asked him to sit down.

Muoma said "I am your counsel let me talk. I have not come all the way here to allow you speak for me in court.”

Reports say the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako was visibly angry and warned Kanu not to turn the trial into a rowdy session again.

Justice Nyako said “If you don’t stop talking in my court I will assume you are becoming a nuisance in my court. And if I assume so, I will continue this trial in your absence, so do not try my patience.

“When you are in my court you will do what I want. It’s like having a visitor in your house; you can serve the visitor food but if he wants to eat he will eat and if he doesn’t want to, he will not.”

Meanwhile, IPOB has said that it will achieve its aim without shedding blood, adding that it has millions of members who are ready to help in the achievement of Biafra despite the imprisonment of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
