The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara chapter on Thursday blamed the non-payment of workers’ salaries on corrupt practices by some state governors.

The state NLC Chairman, Yekini Agunbiade, said that corruption militated against the provision of basic social amenities for the citizenry and had affected sectors like health, education, petroleum, power, and agriculture among others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the group made the allegation at a rally held in collaboration with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to drum up support for the President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign.
NAN reports that the rally which took place in Illorin, was also held simultaneously across states in the country.The Kwara rally, which took place at the state secretariat of the NLC in Illorin, was attended by members of the unions and other professional bodies.
He listed embezzlement, bribery, rituals and rigging of elections as some of the many ways of corruption in the country.
He said that corruption had brought negative image for the nation in the global world.
NAN however reports that the anti-corruption campaigners ended their rally at the Kwara government house where they presented a letter to the governor for President Muhammadu Buhari .
The letter was to confirm their support for Buhari’s anti-corruption war.
Receiving them at the government house, the State Head of Service, Hajia Zahra Omar, said that the letter would be delivered to the governor who was in the office at the time.
