Agency secures 2 convictions, arrests 15 suspects in Edo

The State Commander of the agency, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin that 15 drug suspects were also arrested.

Mr Buba Wakawa, the State Commander of the agency, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin that 15 drug suspects were also arrested within the period.

Wakawa said the suspects included 14 males and one female.

According to him, the command seized 1,027 kilogrammes of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

The substances comprised of 1,018.1 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, 0.520 kilogrammes of tramadol and 0.070 kilogrammes of suspected diazepam.

The commander further said that one farmland, estimated to yield about 1,647.4 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, was destroyed within the period under review.

He said one vehicle was seized in connection with the crime while 12 suspects were counselled.

Meanwhile, the commander had appealed to the state government to assist the agency with operational vehicles and warehouse to store sized exhibit.

He reiterated the commitment of his command to rid the state of illicit drugs and traffickers.
