Civil servants storm Finance ministry, protest payment of 25% salaries [PHOTOS]

Civil Servants on the platform of Public Complaints Commissions have decried the payment of 25% of their monthly salaries.

The workers who stormed premises of the Ministry of Finance, Abuja accused the minister, Kemi Adeosun of refusing to grant leaders of commission audience.

The unit chairman, Nigeria Civil Service Union, Public Complaint Commission Headquarters who simply identified herself as Comrade Mary told Pulse correspondent that her colleagues could no longer pay their bills.

"What you are seeing here today is as a result of non-payment of full salary from January till date", she said.

"They have been paying us 25% of our salaries between January till date.

"Most of my colleagues cannot pay their children's school fees while others who cannot pay their rents have been served quit notices by their landlords. The office is gradually folding up.

"We have done everything administratively possible to solve this problem but there has been no change. We were here severally, they promised that something will be done but we have not seen any change.

"Our Commissioners were here severally buy the minister refused to grant them audience so we decided to come here in our numbers. We were here in May for about two weeks believing that they would be able to pay us the backlog in June, but they have not done that till now.

"It is left for the minister to include the commission in the cash plan so we would be paid but she refused and turned our management down", she added.

She stated that the protest would continue until their demands are met.
