Nigeria will overcome current security challenges ---- APC chieftain

Alhaji Arzika Tureta, an APC stalwart in Sokoto State, on Monday expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon overcome the current security challenges.

Tureta told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that steps being taken by President Muhammadu Buhari on security matters would enable the nation to defeat the terrorists.

He, therefore, advised Nigerians, irrespective of religious and political differences, to cooperate with the government at all levels to ensure the smooth implementation of programmes for the greater good of the citizenry.

He also urged Nigerians to fervently pray for God’s intervention in the nation’s socio-economic and political growth.

He said, "Seeking God’s intervention will flush out all those responsible for the current security situation in the country.

"This is the moment for all Nigerians to be watchful and vigilant in confronting the present security challenges facing us as a nation.

"This can be done by assisting security agencies with required intelligence reports that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of insurgents and other criminals," he said.

Tureta, a former Sokoto State Commissioner for Education, appealed to Nigerians to shun all forms of violence and ensure sustainable peace, progress and political growth the country.

"It is only by so doing that the country would be more united and stronger and the desired political change would be a reality for all of us and the future generations."
