Bagudu, who commended the organisers of the workshop and the participants, said the state was ready to participate in anything related to agriculture to achieve national food sufficiency.

He said the training programme was timely as the country needed to enhance agriculture to boost the economy.

Bagudu stressed the need for states to be encouraged toward increasing their wheat production.

He urged farmers to do their very best in enhancing rice and wheat production in the country.

The state’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, described wheat as part of commodities the country aimed to domesticate.

He urged all principle actors to be committed to the venture.

Mohammad pledged that the state would meet the target of two million metric tonnes of wheat and rice by the end of this farming season.
