Senator to spend N150m for provision of water

The lawmaker said his constituency office had also begun the repair of hand pumps in six Local Government Areas.

This is part of the constituency projects of the senator, who represents the All Progressives Congress (APC), Katsina Central Constituency.

Kurfi, who made this disclosure while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina, said N98 million would be used for the construction of motorised boreholes in five selected council areas.

He said that N52 million would also be spent on the repair of some 12,000 hand pumps in selected Local Government Areas in the area.

Kurfi listed the villages to benefit from the construction of the boreholes as: Doka, Banye, Yantumaki, Bichi, Shinkafi, Wakilin Yamma, and Yandaki.

Other benefiting villages include, Radi Matsani, Gwakon Dutsi ruma and Tulluwa Madogara.

Kurfi said the effort would help to address the shortage of potable water in some rural communities.

He said that his constituency office had distributed more than 10,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers for dry season farming in area.

The senator added that water pumping machines and seeds were also provided for farmers in the  constituency.
