The youths in the community were said to have taken the lifeless body of Ossai on a protest to the Ashaka Divisional Police Station, while some others went in search of the killers.

Sources claim it was a reprisal attack as the Fulani herdsmen were earlier attacked by suspected farmers, with whom they have been having a running battle with.

On Friday, May 12, the youths barricaded the Ughelli/Asaba Highway in protest lamenting that security agencies had refused to intervene in the killings by the herdsmen, the report said.
