Gunmen abduct Commissioner, Gov Dickson’s sister in Bayelsa

The spokesman said police had commenced stop and search on vehicles in Yenagoa to track down the perpetrators.

 

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday abducted the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government Madam Serefina Otazi, family sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Mr Patrick Oba, nephew to the Commissioner, said she was kidnapped in Otuoke at gun point on her way to attend funeral at Ewoi Community in Ogbia Local Government Area.

The kidnappers reportedly whisked away the victim who was in company of two ladies when they attacked and took away her car keys.

Otazi had served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Acting Chairman of Ogbia LGA.

Mr Endurance Frank, a family member, told NAN that the family had reported the incident to the Police and prayed that the victim would be released unhurt.

Also, Police in Bayelsa on Sunday confirmed the kidnap of Miss Nancy Dickson, younger sister to Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa.

Asinim Butswat, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and spokesman for Bayelsa Police Command, confirmed the development to NAN in Yenagoa.

Butswat said Nancy, 26, was abducted in her shop located on Okaka Road, Yenagoa the state capital, on Saturday.

Butswat said the gunmen, who drove in an ash Lexus SUV, trailed Nancy to her shop and whisked her away at about 2.50 p.m.
