FG pledges to improve displace people's welfare

Uguru said government had special attention for the IDPs in the North East and ready to restore normalcy to facilitate their return home.

Uguru made the promise while addressing IDPs in Damare Camp, near Yola, on Saturday.

``Government wants to see you back home as soon as possible to resume your normal life with better schools, healthcare and good houses’’, he said.

Uguru, who was accompanied to the camp by members of Friends of Niger Delta and North, an NGO, said that the NGO had been supporting the IDPs in the camp.

The minister, however, urged other NGOs to support the efforts of the government by assisting the IDP camps in various areas.

The Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Haruna Furo, while receiving the minister and his entourage at the camp, said that the camp had 3,060 IDPs.

Furo adding that the IDPs were being trained in entrepreneurship to enable them to live a better life.

Chairman of the NGO, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, said it would continue to work with the authorities of the camp in assisting the IDPs.
