‘Shiite leader is blind in one eye,’ Falana says

Falana claims the sect leader lost the use of his eye after he was brutally beaten by the military who attacked his Zaria residence in December 2015.

The Nigerian Army alleged that members of the Shiite sect attempted to assassinate the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.

Falana has also written a letter to the the Department of State Services (DSS), calling for the unconditional release of El-Zakzaky.

He said “As a result of the brutal attack, Sheikh Zakzaky lost his left eye while doctors are currently battling to save the right one.

“To compound the physical pain and mental anguish that our clients were subjected to in the circumstance, the Nigeria Police Force and State Security Service have held them incommunicado for the past three and half months.”

Three sons of the cleric were allegedly shot dead by the Army during the raid on El-Zakzaky residence.

There were also reports that the Federal Government of Nigeria, flew the Shite to France to receive treatment for injuries he sustained during the December 2015 clash with the Army.
