Dogara, Lasun urge Nigerians to pray for economic recovery
The leaders of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara and Yussuf Lasun have called on citizens to pray for Nigeria's current economic crises as they celebrate Sallah.

This is contained in a Sallah message issued on Sunday and signed by Dogara’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan.
According to the statement, Dogara lamented the pains experience by Nigerians due to the economic challenges.
He said that the peaceful co-existence, understanding and sustained prayers among citizens were essential in the face of the current economic and security challenges in the country “which are not insurmountable’’.
Dogara, however, expressed confidence that the diversification drive of the present administration, fiscal discipline and transparency would return the country to the path of true development and prosperity.
He called on Nigerians to use the period for sober reflection and imbibe the spirit of sacrifice for peace, unity and progress of the country.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with our friends and families, we must never forget our country and its leadership in our prayers.
“Eid-el-Kabir celebration is a period of sacrifice and reflection.
“I urge us all to emulate this virtues of total obedience, sacrifice in faith and selfless service as demonstrated and exemplified by Prophet lbrahim,’’ the speaker admonished.
Dogara assured Nigerians of the House of Representatives’ determination to continue to work selflessly and tirelessly for the common good and interest of the country.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rep. Yussuf Lasun appealed to Nigerians to pray for the improvement of the country’s economy.
The deputy speaker made the appeal in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Wole Oladimeji.
The statement quoted Lasun as canvassing for patience and perseverance as the country was faced with economic recession.
While calling on Nigerians to support the current administration in the fight against corruption, Lasun said that there would not be any meaningful development without peace.
“I therefore enjoined all Nigerians irrespective of tribes, religion or party affiliation to pray for peace and unity as there can never be development without peace,’’ he said.
Lasun expressed optimism that by God’s grace the country would come out of the current economic situation.
