Speaker urges Muslims to pray for Nigeria's leadership as Ramadan begins

Dogara urges Muslims to pray for the good health of Muhammadu Buhari as Ramadan commences.

House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara in Kaduna state

The Speaker made the call  in a goodwill message to the Nigerian Muslim community on the commencement of Ramadan season, issued by his special adviser on Media & Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan.

He admonished the Muslim faithful to always replicate in their daily lives, the spirit of sacrifice, forgiveness, self denial and piety associated with the Holy month of Ramadhan.

"As the fourth pillar of Islam, Ramadan fast is a significant act of worship which among others,  teaches compassion, love, sacrifice, good neighborliness and peaceful coexistence", Dogara stated.

Continuing, the speaker said,"While urging you to use this golden opportunity to pray for the good heath and full recovery of  President Muhammadu Buhari and for continued peaceful coexistence of the country and it's economic revival, I also enjoin you to always reflect on the virtues of forgiveness, abstinence and genuine love towards one another and make them integral part of your daily lives".

The Speaker who commended the resilience and sacrifice of all Nigerians in the face of current economic challenges, expressing optimism that with  continued prayers and support, the President Buhari administration will lead the country out of the current downturn to prosperity and pledged the commitment of the parliament towards actualising the administration's laudable policies.
