Senator mocks Babachir Lawal over suspension

Lawal was suspended on Wednesday, April 19, over allegations that he misused funds meant for Internally Displaced Persons in the Northeast.

Senator Dino Melaye

“Babachir Lawal. Aje ku iya nio je. Eni tio toni na ton dena deni, aje ku iya nio je. Ntoooooo,” Melaye wrote on Twitter.

The tweet contains the words of a song that Melaye sang after he was cleared of allegations that he did not graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) as claimed.

The song can be translated to mean that a person who tries to stand in the way of a stronger opponent will suffer greatly.

Meanwhile, Lawal has said that he is not aware of his suspension.

The Senate, on December 14, 2016, demanded Lawal’s resignation over the allegations.

Buhari however said, at the time, that he could not sack the SGF because the Senate had not given him fair hearing.
