The teenager took off her explosive vest and ran away as soon as she was free from the Boko Haram terrorists who gave her the assignment.

The girl also refused to detonate the bomb because she ‘knew she would kill people,’ a civilian vigilante member who interrogated her said.

“She said she was scared because she knew she would kill people. But she was also frightened of going against the instructions of the men who brought her to the camp,” the vigilante, Modu Awami told AP.

“She confessed to our security operatives that she was worried if she went ahead and carried out the attack that she might kill her own father, who she knew was in the camp,” Algoni Lawan, a community spokesperson, also said.

The would-be attacker reportedly tried to convince her fellow recruits to abandon the mission but they refused to change their minds.

She also showed her discarded explosive vest to soldiers who heard her story and has given officials information about other planned bombings.

The Dikwa explosion occurred on February 9, 2016, and left more than 60 people dead.
