UK court seizes 27,000 Pounds from ex-minister

As stipulated by the granted application, the money would be held by the court until April 5, 2016.

 

The Westminster Magistrate’s Court in London has granted an application to seize 27,000 pounds sterling from Nigeria's former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The application was granted today, October 5 in accordance to Section 295 of Proceeds of Crime Act 2012.

Multiple reports said Diezani did not appear in court today, Monday, October 5; but her mother Beatrice Agama, and another woman identified as Melanie Spencer were at the sitting.

A separate application was reportedly filed against Ms. Agama for the seizure of an undisclosed amount of money.

Furthermore, The Sun UK reported that Diezani was arrested while attempting to buy a luxury apartment at one Hyde park in the UK with 13 billion pounds (N3 trillion).
