‘Ex-minister performed brilliantly in office,’ Aide says

The media aide to former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, Clem Aguiyi has said that she took great strides on Nigeria’s behalf while in office.

Aguiyi made the comments via a statement released after the ministerial screening of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.

Mrs Alison-Madueke’s aide said further that Kachikwu’s performance during the exercise validated almost all the policies and actions championed and taken by the former Minister.

He also said that the truth about her legacy as Petroleum Minister, is beginning to emerge despite the conspiracy to diminish her sterling accomplishments on the altar of politics.

“Nigerians, for the first time, also made critical infrastructure investments such as marine vessels, petroleum jetties and depots to the extent that over 50 per cent of vessels operating in Nigeria are owned by Nigerian indigenes,” Aguiyi said.

“The nation cannot simply wish away the fact that as oil minister, Mrs. Alison-Madueke made giant strides, as she laid down solid foundations and made achievements that can be built upon by the current and future administration,” he added.

The former minister is currently in the eye of the storm after being detained in London on allegations of money laundering.

Unconfirmed reports have it that Mrs Alison-Madueke is being investigated for looting a whopping £13 billion from Nigeria’s treasury.

Meanwhile, the United States of America is said to be considering the implementation of a visa ban and financial sanctions against the former minister and some of her associates.
