Ex-Governor forged document to get N5bn loan while in office – Witness

Shehu Atiku, a former Clerk of the State House of Assembly, told the Federal High Court in the state that Goje forged the document to obtain the loan from Access Bank.

A witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alleged that former Gombe State Governor, Danjuma Goje forged a resolution of the State House of Assembly to secure a N5 billion loan while he was in office.

Shehu Atiku, a former Clerk of the State House of Assembly, told the Federal High Court in the state that Goje forged the document to obtain the loan from Access Bank.

Details of Atiku’s testimony were contained in a statement released by EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren on Monday, November 2, 2015.

According to the statement, the former clerk told the court:

“My Lord, the said resolution did not emanate from the Gombe State House of Assembly and I was not a signatory to it.”

“As the Admin Officer of the House, I chair the Management Committee of the House, keep a record of House proceedings and maintain its records.”

Uwujaren also said that the proceedings had to be stopped due to the invasion of the court premises by thugs who attacked the accused persons.

Goje is currently a Senator representing the Gombe Central Senatorial District.
