Charly Boy leads anti-corruption protest to the National Assembly

Charly Boy had announced plans to lead other Nigerians on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, to the National Assembly to protest alleged corruption in the legislature.

Charly Boy, the national coordinator of the advocacy group said the protest was born out of the will of Nigerian youths who have shown the desire to "stand up against the injustice and oppression done against them by corrupt politicians."

The eccentric artist who rode on his Power Bike from the Unity Fountain to the National Assembly said he was there to provide "fatherly support to the young kids."

His words: "I am here to encourage some youths who told me that they are not happy with the way things are going in this country. I have always had this faith in my country. I have always said that the future of this country lies in the hands of its exceptional youths and until these youths start to crawl out of wherever they are hiding, Nigeria is going to be in jeopardy.

"I was happy that some youths are doing what young people should  do and I am just here to encourage them to take their rightful place in society. I have also advised them on the need to go back to the drawing board  and come out massively because this is a course for the few men and women of integrity left in Nigeria to come and speak out against this oppression," he said.

Officers and men of the Nigerian Police, however, denied the group access into the National Assembly saying that "they had not written to inform the lawmakers of their coming."

But protesters blocked the main entrance of the National Assembly thereby preventing movement to and from the complex.

The group also announced its intention continue the daily sit-out at the main gate of the Assembly until they see the desired change.
